Southern Indiana man sentenced to 35 years in prison after pleading guilty to child porn charges
Federal investigators say the victims were in three different states James Dean Collett, a 31-year-old man from Jeffersonville, Indiana, has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to federal online child exploitation charges. He used social media apps and text messaging to contact three minors located in Pennsylvania, Idaho, and Mississippi, telling them he was a teenager when he was actually in his late 20s. Prosecutors allege that Collett had the minors create and send over 100 sexually explicit images and videos of themselves to Collett. An iPhone seized at Collett's home in February 2024 contained child sexual abuse material. Collett was sentenced on Oct. 9 and ordered to pay $59,000 in restitution.
