Psychologists to assist LMPD during crisis calls through bodycam footage

Louisville Metro Police officers have another tool at their disposal when it comes to handling some behavioral health crisis calls. Psychologists will be able to remotely assist Louisville Metro Police during crisis calls through bodycam footage during calls, providing real-time guidance from licensed psychologists while officers are in the field. The pilot program involves LMPD, MetroSafe, and Shelton Forensic Solutions. This is part of a broader effort to improve LMPD's response to mental health crises. The initiative involves psychologists serving in an advisory role while officers remain responsible for decisions at the scene. The program builds on LMPD’s Advanced Crisis Team and is part part of an effort to review the pilot's outcomes and feedback to determine its effectiveness.
